This shot above shows the box, a week after the birds flew, with the lid and camera removed. The perspex ceiling is still in position.

And here with the ceiling removed. The failed egg can be seen next to the piece of straw.

Finally, the egg. No more than 14mm long. It just indicates how tiny the chicks were at birth.
